Because of climate change and other possible causes of extinction of mankind on earth, I see further survival of mankind breaks down into these categories.

Survival structures on earth with full internal food production and everything needed. And as needed, possibly permanently sealed off from outside. These will need to withstand whatever might happen. A prediction of a fluid acid covering the surface in 300 years seems to maybe have proven not the case. But who knows, so these things will need to be able to withstand anything that comes.

Rotating space stations around earth, or maybe another planet. Rotating to provide artificial gravity.

Colonizing other planets in our solar system, for as long as possible.

Colonizing other planets in other solar systems.

Rotating spaceships. These can be designed, I guess, for permanent living, and just a wandering search for a planet to colonize.

Although we can hope for the best, if I look at things realistically, it does not look so good.

The biggest problem is getting people working together for those goals. And because there is going to be just a lot of competing, that means duplication and inefficient usage of resources. Another problem, maybe even bigger is the limited resources available. We are using them so rapidly there might not be enough left.

I kind of expect survival structures will be made at the last minute, but even the best of them will fail at some point in a not distant future.

It makes me sad to think about it, but the chance of a human being alive in the year 3000, is basically none. I think if things go the best possible for those who are surviving, they might possibly live beyond 2200. But things tend to go wrong, people make mistakes, resources are limited, and predictions can be wrong, so I am expecting no human alive by 2500.

It's not what I want, but that's how things appear to me.
