There are a number of things wrong with the makeup industry, even beyond animal testing, there is harvesting of needed body parts of humans to be reduced to chemicals for use in makeup.

Even take away those horrible things, the chemicals used are probably causing a lot of environmental damage to obtain, and maybe even slave/child labor.

Completely friendly environmentally, not harmful to animals or using harvested human body parts, I would still have one concern for the user.

Manufacturers are not going to point out, but the chemicals in the makeup are dangerous in larger amounts. Some, maybe most, will absorb through the skin or other areas into the human body. It would take decades to determine what small effects these chemicals may have, but we don't even look for short term large effects. Like most things, we just do until a lot of people complain about something's wrong.

One thing I think is a big disadvantage for others about makeup wearers is that it hides actual faces, and moves towards creating more "generic" pretty faces. Although it does not make sense to talk as though things were intended a certain way somehow, but to me the differences in faces are "intended" to create unique images that are quickly recognized and discernible.

But then there is one case, from many years ago, that makes me wonder if and how I should modify my stance. A friend of mine, who always had makeup on, left it off one day in response to my opinion about makeup. I was kind of "shocked", and did not formulate or make any responses then or even later. Until this.

She's a redhead, and suddenly I saw the red eyebrows. That was on the one side from - what a shame to hide them. And also noticed in her cheeks discoloration. I can't really remember, and maybe it was just a lot of extreme freckles. So one the one side - that is a very unique and quickly recognized face. On the other, well, maybe less than pretty? I don't know, since this was introduced as a dramatic contrast to what I had gotten used to, it had an "undesirable" appearance. But was that just because it was as though "what is that disease?" that subconsciously there was something wrong. Or was it something that I would have felt sorry for her if I had always seen her with that skin coloring. I will never know.
