This idea is a bit specific. It might already exist, I just haven't seen or found one.
There are lots of microphones on drones, for drones, etc., but most seem to be aimed at gathering sound in an area.
This is a single point of sound, namely a person who is speaking.
This drone will have a bit of a highly directional mic, maybe even a tiny parabolic dish if it helps.
The drone can be easily aimed (camera with a target on the remote video indicating where it is aiming) when operated manually, and if someone made an AI version, well, let's hope that works alright.
Further it needs to be super quiet, and as small as possible. The point is that it can be near the subject, but not to close to be distracting.
This was inspired by a couple of churches I've visited where the leader is taking requests for what he should mention in their ritual prayer. This was done in a raise your hand and just tell me from where you are sitting. And so sometimes difficult to hear requiring repeating and confirmation. And most of the people in the church don't hear it, so the leader has to repeat the description of it for others to know.
If this mini, non intrusive drone is flown to each person, the microphone insures they are heard. It can be private to the leader, or piped into the public address system. And lights could indicate on the drone if it is in private or public mode.
This would require someone else to operate the drone, and they can have cameras mounted on the sides of the church or other locations to use in flying the thing around everywhere without having to walk around.
Obviously, there can be more use than just in churches, as in this situation. Many gatherings might benefit from such a thing.
And one use can be news reporting, especially with AI that can not only fly it out of camera shot, but also aim and move to the best spot to minimize background noise.
