This is not about forcing or any kind of laws or rules.
This is purely encouraging adults to wear bike helmets when biking. Advertising campaigns, in stores, in groups, just anywhere the message can be spread.
Of course this may save lives and prevent or reduce injuries among the adults who do wear helmets because of the effort, but that is not the point.
I don't know if this would be the case, but I suspect it is.
Hopefully, more parents are requiring their children to wear helmets when bicycling, and do so themselves.
Although some kids will just do so, others might resist, or later want to break that rule.
I suspect that if "all" of the grown ups the kids see are wearing helmets, then parents (who's children resist) will have a clear point that it's a normal thing to wear a helmet.
If a child has an image of almost everybody riding a bike without a helmet, the requirement will feel like a punishment.
I guess. I don't know, just thoughts that pop into my head.
This thought was inspired by reading about a young teen having a severe accident, and I believe it was not with a car or anything, just a random occurrence. I believe she has mostly recovered luckily, but was in a coma for a while. There was no information, and I did not check, but I'm guessing she did not have a helmet on, and that one would have possibly prevented all injury.
